How to fall asleep with Bridgerton’s Regé-Jean Page - The Mercury News
For those nights it's hard to get to sleep, there are apps for that, including one that replaces the the restless chatter in your brain with the soothing, romantic voice of "Bridgerton's" Duke of Hastings telling you a bedtime story.
Regé-Jean Page has joined Matthew McConaughey, Kate Winslet, Idris Elba, Mandy Moore and other celebrities who tell bedtime stories, which are available via the sleep and meditation app, Calm, that are designed to help users wander off to dreamland.
The British-Zimbabwean actor, who became a global heartthrob on Netflix's racy period drama, "Bridgerton," tells a story called "The Prince and the Naturalist." With his mellifluous tones, Page takes listeners on a journey through Old England as a "naturalist and his royal pupil discover the wisdom of nature," according to a statement from Calm.
"I know how valuable relaxation is for us all, especially in trying times, so I couldn't be more glad to lend my voice to a Sleep Story," Page, 31, said in a statement. To get Page's story, you need to sign up for Calm's annual subscription for $69.99.
For "Bridgerton" fans, this is one immediate way to get your fix of Page, aside from binge-watching Season 1 again. Alas, Page won't be returning to Season 2 to play the dashing but conflicted Duke of Hastings, also known as Simon Basset. Much to the shock of viewers, he announced his departure from the Netflix hit in April, telling Variety that his character was only meant to be in the first season.
"Simon was this bomb of a one-season antagonist, to be reformed and to find his true self through Daphne," Page told Variety. "I think one of the bravest things about the romance genre is allowing people a happy ending."
Page will next be seen in two films, the Netflix action thriller "The Gray Man," co-starring Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling, which is due for release in 2022, and an adaption of the "Dungeons & Dragons" role-playing game, co-starring Chris Pine and due for release in 2023.
