Dua Lipa's Golden Globes Look Reimagines The Schiaparelli Skeleton Dress
This Barbie wears Schiaparelli. On Sunday evening, Dua Lipa stepped out to the annual Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles wearing a custom look designed by creative director Daniel Roseberry that will have you doing a double take.
Dua's dress featured a black velvet strapless bustier complete with corset-style detailing running along the back. The main focus, though, was the series of embroidered gilded bones (fabricated in gold and diamonds, nonetheless) that lined the bodice of the piece. The design detail created the imitation of human anatomy (a signature of the Italian house) and made quite the impact as the singer hit the event's step and repeat.
Elsa Schiaparelli famously created the original Skeleton Dress back in the late 1930s along with the help of surrealist Salvador Dalí—and this glammed-up, mermaid-style version seems to be yet another in the laundry list of Roseberry's interpretations of the iconic silhouette. He previously reimagined Schiaparelli's famous design for other celebrities and in several of his most recent collections. Dua's, though, was unique in both its glitzy ornamentation and the mermaid-esque shape.

A touch of drama was delivered to the remainder dress via a voluminous bustle skirt and slight train. From there, Dua slipped into Jimmy Choo shoes and went with a pared-back beauty look and a chic, slicked hair style. Of course, things wouldn't be complete without some accessories to match. Dua delivered in the form of an archival Tiffany & Co. Necklace, from 1962, in gold and platinum with yellow beryl, topaz quartz, and diamonds.
It's a big night for Barbie at the first major awards show of the season. The blockbuster film is nominated in several categories including Best Picture and Best Performance by an Actress (Margot Robbie). Dua is up for Best Original Song with her smash hit, "Dance the Night Away." Naturally, she's worn the perfect ensemble to do exactly that.
Dua Lipa Is Covered In Glamorous Gilded Bones On Golden Globes 2024 Red Carpet
Dua Lipa looked ready to "dance the night away" on Sunday night, wearing an outfit her "Barbie" character would no doubt love.
The 28-year-old had fans "levitating" as she arrived on the Golden Globes 2024 red carpet in a strapless, body-hugging black Schiaparelli dress that flared out at the bottom in a mermaid silhouette that perhaps harkened back to her role in the 2023 film.
The look featured gold skeleton-like embellishments throughout, including button details down the back.
And while the gown was certainly bejeweled, it was Lipa's glitzy accessories that made a real statement; the star wore a vintage Tiffany & Co. Necklace featuring diamonds throughout and two small jewels at the end.
As for hair and makeup, the singer kept it somewhat minimalistic, appearing bronzed and fresh-faced while her fiery red hair was styled in waves.

On top of being a presenter, she's nominated for Best Song for a Motion Picture for her mega-hit "Dance the Night," which appeared in film.

Still, Lipa has plenty of competition in the "Best Song" category and is even up against a handful of her colleagues from the movie. Ryan Gosling's "I'm Just Ken" and Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?" also received nominations.

She recently rang in the new year decked out in a black, cutout Tom Ford dress and back in August, celebrated her 28th birthday in a Gucci bra, which she paired with layers of chunky necklaces.
The style icon has also collaborated with Versace, working with Donatella herself to create a women's collection called "La Vacanza."
There's no denying that Lipa brought her style A-game to the Globes, which makes us wonder: will she "Be the One" to win best dressed of the night? It's definitely a possibility.
Dua Lipa's 2024 Golden Globes Outfit Is A Stunning Velvet Schiaparelli Gown With Diamond Bones On It
Dua Lipa has been casually nominated for her first Golden Globe thanks to Barbie's "Dance the Night Away," and she showed up on the 2024 carpet looking out of this world incredible. Like, if you thought her Barbie premiere look was a peak, please observe:

Dua is obviously thrilled about the nomination, and released a statement saying as much. "I woke up this morning to my first Golden Globe nomination, and I couldn't be more grateful!" she said. "Getting the chance to write a song for a movie was so special. Figuring out how to soundtrack this critical moment in the movie on Barbie's 'best day ever' was like this big jigsaw puzzle that Mark, Andrew, Caroline and I had to fit together. The entire experience was completely different than writing one of my own songs, and it's one that I'll never forget."
She previously told the LA Times, "When Greta and Mark told me about what part of the film they wanted me to write a song for, it was the pinnacle moment where everything changes from good to bad. I love juxtaposition....I love dance-crying. I knew it had to be fun, but I knew it needed a little element of sadness or a little pang of insufficiency, which I think maybe we're all susceptible to."
